Memory Moment Signpost.
This signpost requires us to do just like the others and dig deeper as we are reading and look for those times when a character thinks back to a memory. This could be a pleasant memory or an unpleasant one. Whenever we see our character doing this, we have to stop and ask ourselves
"Why is this memory important?"
When we answer this, we will find out more about the theme of the story, the conflict the character or characters are dealing with in the story, and we might even find out about events that are going to happen later in the story (foreshadowing).
